Meet Our Attorneys
G. Edward Murphy is the managing attorney and lead counsel for The Murphy Law Group, P.C., and is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.
Mr. Murphy is a graduate of Northern Illinois University College of Law, where he graduated third in his class. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and Peoria County Bar Association. He serves on local family law committees and is a member of the family law section at both the state and national level. He is also a certified family law mediator, and can help you mediate or arbitrate all family law matters involved in dissolution of marriage actions. He is a Peoria native who returned home after law school and later joined James D. Reynolds to start the firm in 1988.
G. Edward Murphy has a history of success in all that he has undertaken. He was a successful student-athlete, excelling in sports as an All-State baseball player and golfer in high school, and pitching in baseball for Illinois Central College and The University of Iowa in college. In law school, he continued this level of success by graduating 3rd in his entire class, writing as an Editor for the Law Review, and competing in the Moot Court competition. This history of accomplishment in both academic and athletic arenas prepared him well for becoming a trial lawyer. For the past 21 years, Mr. Murphy has continued to excel in all areas of family law and in mediation. He was previously voted one of "Illinois Law and Leading Attorneys" in both Family Law and Criminal Law, a distinction given to only the top 6% of attorneys in the State of Illinois. He is a respected member of the bar and a leading attorney in the family law arena. He limits his practice now solely to family law, divorce, custody, and complex property issues.
Mr. Murphy is married with four children. He resides in Peoria, Illinois.
Theresa B. Murphy graduated from law school at the Northern Illinois University College of Law in 1988. She is a certified guardian ad litem and mediator.
Ms. Murphy has an extensive history of community involvement and volunteering her time for the children of Peoria. She is the past president of the board for the Children's Hospital of Illinois. She is past president of the Junior League of Peoria, and has extensive community involvement for Crittenton, St. Vincent de Paul Women's Guild and numerous other volunteer organizations. She is primarily handling child custody and mediation cases and acts as a Guardian ad Litem representing children in contested custody matters. She is currently the contract Guardian ad Litem for Peoria County. She has been licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois since 1988 when she graduated from law school at the Northern Illinois University College of Law. She received her Juris Doctorate degree in 1988. She received her undergraduate Bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's College in Indiana in 1984. She is a member of the Peoria County Bar Association.
Ms. Murphy is also a certified family law mediator, able to mediate and arbitrate all family law matters involved in dissolution of marriage actions. She is also a certified Guardian ad Litem authorized to represent children and their best interests in contested custody matters.
She devotes a substantial amount of time giving back to the local Peoria area community in all of her volunteer activities, while still working and raising four children. She is married with four children and resides in Peoria, Illinois.
Elizabeth M. Turton is an associate attorney who joined the firm in October 2007, after graduating cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Peoria County Bar Association. She is also a certified Guardian ad Litem. While attending MSU-CL, Ms. Turton completed the competitive Geoffrey Fieger Trial Practice Program, was a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Medicine and Law, and clerked for an East Lansing Criminal and Family Law firm. Ms. Turton has also spent time interning for the Washtenaw County Public Defender's office and as a judicial intern in Livingston County, Michigan.
Prior to coming to MSU-CL, Ms. Turton received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and Human Resources from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University.
Ms. Turton is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Peoria County Bar Association. Ms. Turton is primarily handling family law matters and assisting in divorce and custody related issues. She is also a certified Guardian ad Litem able to represent the best interests of children in contested custody cases.
Jeffrey M. Dunn is an Associate Attorney with The Murphy Law Group, P.C., and is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. Mr. Dunn was a graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2006. He has been practicing in the family law arena for the past four years and concentrates in divorce, custody and other family law related matters. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Peoria County and Tazewell County Bar Associations, and is a member of the Abraham Lincoln Inns of Court. He serves on local family law committees and is a member of the family law section of the bar association. He is also a certified Guardian ad Litem able to represent children in custody cases. He is a Peoria area native who returned home after law school and has been practicing in Peoria County and Tazewell County since graduation.
Jeffrey M. Dunn has also been a success throughout his life in all that he has undertaken. He was a successful student-athlete, graduating as Valedictorian of his high school class and excelling in three sports as an All-Conference pitcher in baseball, and playing basketball and golf. He then went on to excel at Augustana College, where he lettered in baseball all four years and was an All Conference pitcher his Senior Year. In law school, he continued this level of success by graduating in the top ½ of his graduating class. This history of accomplishment in both academic and athletic arenas prepared him well for becoming a trial lawyer.
