G. Edward Murphy is the managing attorney and lead counsel for Murphy & Dunn, P.C., and is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.
Mr. Murphy is a graduate of Northern Illinois University College of Law, where he graduated 3rd in his class. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and Peoria County Bar Association. He serves on local family law committees and is a member of the family law section at both the state and national level. He is also a certified family law mediator. He is a Peoria native who returned home after law school to start the firm in 1988.
Jeffrey M. Dunn is a partner at Murphy & Dunn, P.C. He is also an experienced trial attorney capable of taking on any issue and winning your divorce, custody or family law matter. He has handled every type of family law case you can think of, including custody, divorce, maintenance, removal, child support, visitation, college expenses, father's rights, paternity and legal separation. He is also a Guardian ad Litem who represents children's best interests in custody cases.
Mr. Dunn has been working at the law firm for the past 16 years since he was in college. He started working during the summers and continued throughout law school and thereafter. James M. Crowley
Murphy & Dunn, P.C. is pleased to welcome Attorney James M. Crowley to our team of established trial attorneys. Jim has practiced law in Illinois since 2003, concentrating his practice in Criminal Defense, DUI, Traffic, Driver's License Reinstatement, Civil Litigation, Business Law, Special Education and School Law. He is now switching over his trial skills to the area of family law, divorce and custody litigation.
As a former Assistant Public Defender for Peoria County, James has over nine years trial and litigation experience and routinely defended clients in all stages of criminal proceedings in Felony, DUI, Traffic and Misdemeanor Divisions.
James attended Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, NH, where he received his Juris Doctor and Masters in Intellectual Property Law in 2001. While attending Franklin Pierce, James interned at the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in Boston, MA, where he helped local artists with various Copyright and Trademark issues.
Christopher A. Nelson
Christopher A. Nelson is an Associate Attorney with Murphy & Dunn, P.C. and primarily works with Lead Partner G. Edward Murphy handling all aspects of divorce, custody and family law matters. He works extensively with Case Manager Dina C. James and his Paralegal Ashlyn Smith to obtain the best result possible for his clients. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois. Mr. Nelson earned his B.S. from Illinois State University and his J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law.

Christopher has an established record of leadership. In Law School he was a Semi-Finalist in the Northern Illinois University Mock Trial Competition. Christopher is a member of the Peoria County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He resides in Peoria, Illinois.
Candice M. Thomason
Candice M. Thomason is an Associate Attorney at Murphy & Dunn, P.C. She is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois and is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Candice is a graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law, where she graduated with honors in May of 2014. She also earned her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Valparaiso University.
Candice works primarily with Managing Partner G. Edward Murphy and her Paralegal Nathan Paquet in all areas of family law litigation. She is a capable trial attorney who can handle all aspects of a dissolution of marriage matter from start to finish to win your case.
